We asked SANG stitchers to make “Any Child” squares in support of Love Quilts USA. They chose their patterns and got right to work! Some members may have grumbled about working with Aida cloth (Joan and I were in our element!!!), others hadn’t made items for young children in quite some time, so borrowed patterns from other stitchers.
SANG chose to stitch squares for the “any child” quilts — quilts that are put together on short notice. The first finished square arrived shortly after our first article ran in the May newsletter (Pat is such an overachiever) and the last square was finished the weekend before turn ins were due (umm, that would be mine).
I cannot thank our generous members enough — we had squares turned in from local members, plural members, even one member in Maryland (thanks Carol). Final count for our guild — 15 completed squares. That will be a nice stash of completed squares for the volunteers of Love Quilts USA to stitch a quilt to brighten a young child’s room as they struggle with medical issues. Our day and night meeting attendees are posing with a few of the squares. Well done!
