Garden of Stars by Peg Dunayer
A Garden of Stars is a dramatic geometric needlepoint piece, stitched on congress cloth. It features delicate star patterns in an organized garden around a large Walneto star, surrounded by some interesting borders. Stitch combinations include Jean Hilton stitches, as well as several well-known needlepoint stitches. Two ground and thread color options are offered: on white congress cloth using blues, and on black congress cloth using white, ecru, and Vatican gold. Silk, cotton and metallic threads, and beads are used in each color option. The class will be held in two sessions, July 27 and August 24. A deposit of $110 ($85 kit fee plus $25 nonrefundable deposit) is required to participate. Peg will take 20 students, but “ghosts” are welcome. As a ghost, you are required to pay the full class fee as if you were attending. Please complete the coupon and send it along with your check made payable to SANG to Joyce McCoig by June 1, 2019.
Workshop with Jeanette Rees
February 23-25, 2018 Chandler Center 137 W. French Place
SANG is pleased to announce a workshop with Jeanette Rees to be held February 23-25, 2018. We will be piloting Jeanette’s class, Autumn Tranquility, which will be taught at EGA Seminar 2018. The quiet days of autumn have arrived. This peaceful forest scene is full of falling leaves and a fox relaxing near the river. Learn to use a variety of threads to create color and texture. The large tree, stitched on a separate piece of Congress cloth, is appliqued to the larger piece. Traditional and surface stitch techniques are suitable for intermediate stitchers, but also make this a fun learning experience for the more experienced stitcher. Use the canvas as a guide to stitch as directed and to personalize your work.
