Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye… March 2018

I will start with congratulations to Stephanie Goaley, Pat Goaley’s daughter, who many of us know from the last Luncheon and the Austin Retreats, for winning one of the two SCR Education and Newsletter Scholarships offered for the first time this year. The scholarship will apply to an EGA Individual Correspondence Course, Group Correspondence Course, Online Class or an Extended Study Program. The purpose of the new scholarship is to help advertise EGA classes and to increase awareness and participation by having individuals that take a class and submit an article for the SCR Stitches Publication. Stephanie, we look forward to your article and hope it will be the first of many!

We held the February Night Meeting at St Marks since The Chandler Center was all but closed and the group really enjoyed the room we are using there. The May Luncheon will be at St. Marks again this year and the information is later in this newsletter.

While I am on the subject of places we meet, I would like to thank The Chandler Center for so many years of providing the Night Group and the Technique classes a home. We will miss the familiar surroundings. Our Swan Song there was Jeanette Rees’ class, “Autumn Tranquility” and it was truly a delight! They have invited us to their farewell party on Sunday, March 4 from 2-4 PM.

One more thank you to all those who made a special effort to come to the Stitch in at the Memorial Library on the third Saturday in February for our special “Stitch in Public Day”.

I will put this item in again as a reminder that we will be having a table at the SCR Seminar 2018 Stash sale. Please bring items you would like to donate to this Chapter fund raiser to me or to any of the Board members.
We also need ideas for things to go in our prize basket for the Seminar. Our last baskets have been such a success!

Happy Stitching! I hope this month will bring good weather and good health to all!
