Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye…

The 2014 SANG retreat is a wonderful memory now. Diane Williams and Mary Hodges did a great job. Everyone had a terrific time. Diane’s organizational skills and Mary’s goodie bags made this fun and relaxing. They are already working on Retreat 2015 for the first weekend of October 2015. SAVE THIS DATE.

Myrt Naylor brought 4 of her spinning buddies. They added a new dimension to our retreat seeing what they do with spinning and making the yarn into beautiful shawls and gloves. Three of them had such a great time that they jumped right in and joined SANG, Diane Ballerino-Regan, Washington, D.C., Barbara Seeler, Monroe, WA, and Gretchen Hill, San Antonio. Dolores Blomstrom, Cedar Creek, TX Austin Guild became a plural member. Hopefully we will see all of them at our next retreat.

At the stitch in at Memorial Library on October 18, 2014, we received some sad news. Michelle Brown is moving to Dallas and will be there by the time you read this newsletter. She said to stop by if we get out her way. Her cell phone is the same. I am glad she came to stitch with Mary Hodges, Maryann Reed and myself before she left.

We will have our Annual Christmas party and Ornament Exchange on December 6 at the Quarry Golf Club. The ornament needs to be hand stitched or beaded and wrapped. If your friends want to participate, they can try their hand at stitching prior to the party. The deadline to register is November 22. There is a coupon in this newsletter. We can come at 8:30 am to stitch. The menu looks delicious. We are also doing Toys for Tots. Please bring a new unwrapped toy with you. Diane Williams has done a great job organizing this.

I hope to see you Saturday, November 8 at 10:00 am for the Quilt show at Institute of Texan Cultures. One of my quilting buddies said this is not to be missed. If we have 10 people we get in for $4.00 each and write only one check so bring friends.

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving with your family and friends.
