President’s Message November 2013

Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye…

I want to thank Diane Williams for organizing a great retreat. We had a lot of fun stitching for 5 days. I got quite a bit done on Amadeus since Marsha, Marilyn and Ruth were sitting at my table. My sister, Carol from Annapolis MD, also had a good time. She is working on Mother and Child. It is beautiful. We also had a delicious lunch at Darlene’s house on the way to Comfort. Her soups, sandwich trays and desserts were wonderful.

I accumulated some of Anne Marrou’s stash which I shared with you at the retreat. There were some books, hoops, hoops with straw material ready to stitch. In the mix was a newsletter from May-June 1985. This was several years before I even thought of SANG. They were getting ready for National Seminar 1985 at St. Anthony Hotel. Thirty years later we will have National Seminar 2015 here at Marriott River Center. In 1985 Lore Senseney was Nametag Chairman. Darlene Bryant was one of the stitchers doing brick covers. Wilanna Bristow was working on the marvelous banner for the theme “A Fiesta in Stitchery” and Sally Thomas also worked on it.

We will be having an exhibit at Forest Hills Library, 5245 Ingram Road for the month of December and January 2014. Please bring your pieces to the November 19 meetings. Info in this newsletter.

Thanksgiving is nearly here. The Board meeting will be November 13 and the regular day and night meetings will be November 19. We will be having the cording Kumihimo class at both meetings.

Don’t forget to send your reservation to Diane for the Christmas luncheon at Haven River Inn Sunday, December 15. The deadline is December 7, 2013. More info in this newsletter.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you will have all of your family around you.
