Shhh! The SANG premier outreach project for 2019 is a secret! Our night meeting host, St. Marks UMC, is in need of ornament replacements for its giving tree, which holds wants and needs lists for youngsters who can use a little help at Christmas. When the list is removed to be filled, an ornament is chosen from under the tree to replace the list. Well… those current ornaments are no longer up to the task.
Our answer is to replace them with handmade angel ornaments to be presented the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
The goal is 20 angels, from 3 to 5 inches high, finished (including hangers), ready for the tree. The choice of design and medium is up to the maker; cross-stitch, needlepoint, Hardanger, beaded by hand or on a ground, quilted, whatever method you choose. Please look through your stash, search your memory and see what you can bring to meet this challenge. But remember, this is a secret until we make the presentation!
Threads of Blessing and Meals on Wheels will continue through the year, although we will not make bags this year, so please save pretty bags to use for our donation to Meals on Wheels in December. I will pass along information on both these organizations in future newsletters.
Information regarding Habitat for Humanity samplers will be available next month, but it’s time to decide the strength of your interest. Please send a text to me at 719-322-1305 or a quick email to firstname.lastname@example.org to let the Board know yea or nay to continue this outreach. If yes, how many will you stitch?
Watch the Outreach tab on our website, www.sang-ega.org for updates on resource materials and projects. This is going to be fun!
