Mini Maker’s Faire March 23rd

The San Antonio Mini Maker’s Faire was huge fun in the Central Library on March 23rd! There were children everywhere, full of curiosity and questions. It was surprising and pleasing to learn that many of them are already doing some basic sewing or stitching. Most were enchanted by Mary Hodge’s unicorn card embroidery. Many parents showed interest in the beginning embroidery class at Encino Library, April 15th. It was fun for the workers and we hope to be included next time, armed with small projects to offer those curious minds and hands.

The SANG table was positioned next to the Chihuly installation, which beautifully complimented the guild banner.

April Membership News

Name tag kits went out the end of February to new members. If you have never received a name tag kit, please let me know at the next meeting or by email. The email needs to include your name, address and if I would be able to give it to you at the next meeting or May luncheon.

Ladies, the dues year is coming to an end and it is time to renew your membership. I would like to get as many renewals during April as possible. Annual dues are $55 per year. I will be submitting a list with payment to the national office the end of April and May. Hopefully, everyone will have had the opportunity to renew their membership by then. I will be at both day and evening meetings in April as well as the May luncheon to facilitate payment of dues.

April President’s Message -Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye.

It was a nice seeing Debbie Barfield and Betty Petty at the Wednesday stitch in March 6. Debbie has been a SANG member but she moved to St. Louis several years ago.

Our Spring luncheon will be May 11 at Ft. Sam Golf Course Club. We can start stitching at 9:00 and have lunch at 11:30. See the coupon in this newsletter with the menu and charge.

We are going to start a Point System to support SANG. Members can win points by coming to meetings, 2020 Workdays, bringing a friend to a meeting 3 points, and the friend joins 5 points. The complete list is in this newsletter. We will start at the May luncheon and finish at the May 2020 luncheon. The points will be tickets put in a random drawing for a free membership. We will also have a prize for the most points.

Check your SANG newsletter for upcoming stitch ins and meetings. Linda does a fine job of keeping us up to date with her calendar.

Hope to see you at a stitch in soon.
