Bring an unwrapped, hand stitched or beaded ornament. If your friends wish to participate in the exchange, they would also need to bring a hand stitched or beaded ornament — if they’re not stitchers, you could be generous and make them an ornament to exchange, too!

The Menu is as follows:

Entree: LA FONDA #1
Pre- Entrée Guacamole Salad,
Host’s Choice of One Ground Beef Taco OR One Pulled Chicken Taco, Cheese Enchilada & Tamale con Chili

Choice 2
Seasoned Grilled Chicken Breast topped with Queso & Pico de Gallo

Both choices also include Beans & Rice, Chips, Salsa, Water, Iced Tea and Sodas

Your Board will bring cookies for dessert (you may also bring cookies to share, if you wish) Price: $15

Registration for Stitchin Fiesta has closed but it may not be too late to join in on the fun. Please contact EGA and they will work with you. Keep in mind registration requests received after August 15 are subject to faculty approval and availability. Registration is open to EGA members as well as non-EGA members.
The Seminar will be at San Antonio Marriott River Center, there is still time. Please contact Kathy Scioneaux at email: for registration inquiries. Check the EGA website at for more information.

NOTE THE DATE — the meeting has been moved forward due to the EGA’s National Seminar in our very own San Antonio the week we would normally hold the meeting. We will be watching part two of the video”Native Beads and Dance Regalia Showcase” a gift from EGA. This was a narrated fashion show with Native American models wearing regalia highlighting beading and embroidery. A videographer was hired to film the show. This project was funded in whole through a bequest from the Gay Montague Phillips estate.

NOTE THE DATE — the meeting has been moved forward to give members time to get ready for Thanksgiving the week we would normally hold the meeting. How appropriate that SANG traditionally performs a community outreach project as our November project. This year we will be preparing sewing kits for the students at Arnold Elementary School.

Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye…

Oh my goodness it is October. I am so excited because EGA’s National Seminar in San Antonio will be here at the end of the month. I have been doing a little last minute shopping for those non-standard supplies that teachers have indicated will be needed for my classes that I do not have. As a reminder because the national Seminar will take up the fourth week of October, we will be moving our fourth Tuesday meeting to the third Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

I want to thank Diane Williams for all of her hard work setting up our retreat this year. The retreat was held at the Inn of the Hills in Kerrville, September 30 – October 4.

The guild will be donating a basket to be used as a door prize for the national seminar in October. If you would like to make a donation or a contribution to the basket, please bring it to the October 20 General Meeting.

Pat Sweet has been working real hard this year to keep us busy. Take a look at the Technique classes we have for the rest of the year:

  • October: A Class to Dye for
  • November: Candy Jepson’s Peyote Bracelet

Please consider attending any one or all of these classes. The classes are a great way to try out something new without a huge investment in a project you may or may not like to do. As the year starts winding down we are planning classes and programs for next year. So if there is something you would like to see us do please let Pat Sweet know. If there is a topic you would like to see covered in your newsletter please let Mary Hodges or I know. We are always looking for new material. I will try and research the topic and write an article to appear in a future news letter.

As always happy stitching,

Jessica Jones
