STITCHING CELEBRATION – ORIGINAL WORK WANTED

SANG is celebrating its members’ original works with a desk calendar for 2016. It will showcase a

unique stitched piece each calendar month and makes for an attractive keep-sake or gift for family and friends! Calendars will be available during Seminar 2015 and all regularly held SANG meetings from October 2015 onward.

But we need your help! If you would like to participate in this exciting project, please email a digital pictures of your original* work to Karin Shaw at [email protected] You can also call Karin at 210.264.7711 to arrange taking a digital picture of your work for you. Multiple entries are possible.

* Original designs only, no purchased kits

Volunteer Opportunity

KLRN 49TH Blazing Gavels Auction will be Wednesday, June 10 to Saturday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 17 to Saturday, June 20. SANG usually has volunteers to be runners, telephone operators or board workers one night during auction. Watch this space for the date. It is fun to be there with all the action, items going up for bid, fast paced steals of the night, trips and the ability to attend the after auction auction where we can bid on some over stocked items. Volunteers can bid from the lobby of the studio during our time there. If you don’t have your speed bid number, call KLRN at 210-270-9000 and get one. It will make your bidding faster whether you are with us in the Studio or watching from home. One of our SANG volunteers even got a Star Wars light saber and I have a life size cardboard cutout of two Klingon sisters from a past auction.

Upcycle for Outreach

Ladies, please start saving the following items which we will be using to “upcycle” into a project for this year’s community outreach program:
Promotional refrigerator magnets (you know, those business card sized magnets for the local pizza delivery shop, vet or realtor). Don’t go grabbing piles from local businesses, but please do save the ones that you no longer need…

Used gift cards – we’re looking for sturdy plastic ones — make sure you’ve used the last penny! I write “Used” on the back of mine, so that I don’t confuse them with “live” cards.
Turn these items in to Mary Hodges at any program or stitch in. If you can’t find Mary, any board member could get them to her.

Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye…

Well its May, I hope all of you survived Fiesta this year. If you are like me May is a busy month. I think I have only one weekend without prior commitments!

Did you see the article that Karin Shaw wrote for the newsletter last month asking for original designs from the membership to put in a calendar? I think this is an excellent idea that it allows the members of the guild to display some of their fantastic work. It would be a great fund raiser that requires minimal work on our part because all the pieces have been finished. If you are interested in participating let Karin know.

I want to thank Mary Hodges for teaching our April project. If you are interest in getting involved why not teach a technique class or present a program. Many of you have your own areas of stitching expertise and I think the guild could benefit from this knowledge. The Guild is always looking for new ideas. So if you’re interested contact Pat Sweet.

I want to thank Pat Sweet, Diane Williams and Marilyn Veach for making our May Luncheon a success. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes and these lovely ladies do a fantastic job every time.
