President’s Message for February

Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye…

Happy February. So how well did we do on those New Year’s stitching resolutions? As always I am a constant work in progress and am trying to figure out what works for me. I did make some progress on my 100 stitches a day but not as much as I would have liked. Everyday is a new beginning to answer “How far will I stitch get today?” In the end it is all about the journey. I love to stitch the full coverage pieces because you know that you are getting somewhere when you see the picture start to emerge as you stitch it.

The South Central Region has now opened up registration for the group correspondence offerings for 2015.

The pieces are:

  • Bargello Challenge ($35.00) (Canvas, Encore)
  • Hummingbird and Honeysuckle ($35.00) (Stumpwork, Encore)
  • A Frenzy of Fringes ($58.00) (Beading, new)
  • White Iris ($48.00) (Pulled work, new)
  • Star Spangled Puzzle Ball ($40.00) (Counted, 3-D, new)

If you are interested in any of these pieces, please sign up by the deadline March 31, 2015. Details how to sign up are in this newsletter. If none of these interest you, but EGA offers another Group Correspondence Course you would like to take instead and you can convince 7 of your closest stitching buddies to join you the region will pay for that class too. You would pay for the instruction booklets and materials. It’s a good opportunity to do a piece that speaks to you or try something new.

This month’s program is hands on Blackwork sampler piece to follow up the informational program we had in January. If Blackwork is your stitching passion, you should take a look at Elizabeth Almonds Blackwork patterns they are stunning. So what is your stitching passion? Would you like to give a program on it? What other techniques would you like to see the guild do a program on?

As always happy stitching,

Jessica Jones
