President’s Message July 2013

Short Threads from the Needle’s Eye…

A friend of mine emailed me a lovely story. I won’t go into the whole story but the bottom line was “Thank you for your time.” I thank the Guild for the times we spend together at stitch ins, meetings or wherever we gather. Someone in the Guild taught me how to do a knitted heel on a Christmas stocking about 15 years ago. I had finished 4 stockings and stitched my great grandchildren’s’ names on white cuff. Those 4 stockings were knitted about 15 years ago. Now I have 2 stockings made up to the heel. If whoever taught me the heel would contact me, I would really appreciate it. I have another great grandson coming Labor Day who will need his stocking finished. I would appreciate their time to show me how to finish the heel and toe.

I want to thank Mary Hodges, Tawney Carter and her husband James and Pat Allison and her husband Rick for working the KLRN Auction Saturday June 22. Debi Silva, Volunteer Coordinator at KLRN, was appreciative of the Guild having 6 members there. I worked the TP board most of the night and Mary, Tawney, James, Pat and Rick answered the phones. We were there til 3 am Sunday morning but we all had a good time and it is for a great cause. KLRN has Sewing with Nancy and quilt shows on Saturday mornings. They had Shay Pendray’s Embroidery Studio show in the past.

We will be stitching July 2 at Maverick Library, July 3 at Northwood Presbyterian Church, July 20 at Memorial Library and at Chandler Senior Center for the 4th Tuesday meeting/summer stitch in on July 23, 2013.

The heat of San Antonio summers is here. The coolest thing to do is come to an air conditioned stitch in. I hope to see you there.
